Pelvis – Pelvic Ring Instability – Large External Fixator: Stabilization of the Pelvic Ring

Injuries to the pelvic ring can be life-threatening and require immediate stabilization.The
techniques for stabilizing the pelvic ring with the external fixator will be demonstrated.
Objectives
· Clinical indications for external fixation of the pelvic ring
· Technique for the insertion of Schanz screws in the supra-acetabular region and the
iliac crest
· Construction of the anterior pelvic external fixator
